What you need
An Arduino Uno, USB cable, breadboard, jumper wires and a handful of LEDs with 220 Ω resistors. That starter kit covers every green project below.

How long each build takes
Beginner builds take 20–40 minutes, intermediate around an hour, advanced ones an afternoon.
🟢 Beginner Arduino projects
Ages 8+ (with an adult for the first build)
Your very first circuits. Only LEDs, buttons and buzzers — nothing that can overheat or bite. Each build takes one sitting and teaches one new idea.

- What age can a child start Arduino?
- Around 8 with an adult helping with the wiring, and independently from about 11. Reading is the main requirement — the code is typed, not drag-and-drop.
- Do we need to buy anything expensive?
- No. A basic Uno starter kit covers every project here. You can also try the code first in the free browser simulator before buying anything.
- Which project should we build first?
- The Traffic Light. Three LEDs, clear result, and it teaches the timing pattern every later project reuses.
- How do we know it is safe?
